Who We Are

Multi-Dimensional Development Center (MDC) Nepal is a not-for-profit organization founded with a single mission to close a gap in food insecurity, poverty, education and health with the introduction of sustainable development via capabilities enchancing approach and human rights approach. It helps communities to transform by carrying out development projects in health care, agriculture production, education, micro-enterprise development and advocacy.

Vision

MDC Nepal's vision is to establish a sustainable and self-reliant community, food secure families, organic world with increased income and their increased access to resources.

Mission

MDC Nepal's mission is to strengethen the capacity of self-help group by providing economic opportunity raising public awareness against the cause of poverty.

Objective

MDC Nepal's objective is to improve the socio-economic status of the poor and vulnerable groups in rural areas through the demand and right based approaches.

What We Do

MDC Nepal works in the major areas of development. We provide support to the rural under privileged communities of Nepal and help them find the innovative solution to fight with their problems and create a better sustainable community.

Sustainable Livelihood

With sustainable livelihood, our approach is to eradicate poverty through food and nutritional security for the rural and vulnerable communities through established system and mechanisms.

Education

Education is crucial to attaining social mobility and economic stability, as it nurtures the way of thinking and teaches skills needed. At the same time it helps to boost the social, economical and political progress of the nation.

Health

Health is closely relate to the wellbeing of people and can be a barrier to underdeveloped community. MDC puts an effort to provide clean water, sanitation and access to health care.

Environment and Climate Change

Availability of natural resource locally is a key to development. With the conservation of Environment or natural resources, it will not only help in Disaster Risk Reduction, it will bring positive change on ecological farming, watershed management, etc.

Self Government

Self-reliant and sustainable development can only be achieved through social justice that ensure equal opportunities for people to cope disparities between regions, income levels and gender. People involved in development should take part in the process of planning and implementing development activities. Participation in every aspect of politics, economy and society is important as both the goal and means of development.

Social Inclusion

Social inclusion is a vital process of involving individuals and groups in the process of development in the society which will improved the ability, opportunity and dignity of the marginal disadvantaged communities.

MDC Nepal has been working to address the cause of poverty and focuses to support through agricultural development, natural resource management and self governance. Provided with support MDC Nepal is able to produce some positive impact in the socitey.

Bhumisara Ale, aged 33 years, permanent resident of Devghat RM-1, Kota Aaptar of Tanahu district. Her family is comprised of a total of 5 family members including 2 sons, husband, and mother. She owns 10 Ropani (4,760 m2) of land. Even though, she has a difficulty combating food security because of traditional farming and lack of knowledge on improved technological transformation.

Health Status Changed with Introduction of Improved Cooking Stoves

Firewood is used to cook food in many households in Nepal. There is a subsequent effect caused by smoke to the family, not only to the person cooking also to the children and other family members nearby the stove. To reduce the effect caused by the smoke and improve the living condition improved cooking stove (ICS) was introduced in the Chepang community of Sarikhet-7 Anpbari.
